Good spiritual growth is really important for ever child in a Christian family. The child needs to not only know about the bible and what Jesus did for us, but also needs to understand it and use it in his daily life. For the spiritual growth of a child, parents send their children to Sunday school where they are taught about the Bible and the many stories in it. one thing a Sunday school teacher must keep in mind is that the mind of a child is really soft and can really absorb things told to them. this is why you must make it a point to teach inspirational Bible stories to children at Sunday school since they will learn from them and will want to be like the characters in the Bible.
One really good story which inspires a child is that of King David. The story shows how God can choose even the smallest of people to lead a kingdom and that age is no concern when it comes to God’s choices. David was the smallest child in the family and all he did was watch a herd of sheep. God chose him because he was humble and a good person in God’s eyes. With this story the children will learn to be humble and will try to be good in God’s sight in order to be chosen to help the Lord’s Kingdom.
Another very inspirational story is that of Zacchaeus. He was a very little man who was never noticed. one day when Jesus was walking through the streets with a crowd around him, Zacchaeus wanted to see him. The only problem was that he was too short and he wasn’t able to see Jesus, nor get noticed by him. That is why he climbed up a tree. Jesus immediately noticed this and called Zacchaeus to his house. this shows that God notices even the smallest of people if they have a true desire to meet him. this is a very common Bible story but sadly is never explained to the children.
Inspirational Bible stories like these are great, but only if explained in the right away to the children. The children should be the center of attention when it comes to making an explanation for the story. When I was in Sunday school I learnt a lot of Bible stories, but the sad part is that they were never explained to me.
So whenever you are narrating a Bible story, make sure you explain it after and always keep the children in mind when coming up with an explanation for it.
