‘I too had a love Story’ is the debut novel of the author, Ravinder Singh, who beautifully depicts the beauty and power of true love through his own heart touching love story. the past tense in the title of the book makes one curious about it.
It is the narrative of the journey of meeting of two strangers, Ravin and Khushi through a matrimonial site to the point, where their relationship becomes the most precious gift of the god.
Not all love stories are meant to have a perfect ending. some stay incomplete. Yet they are beautiful in their own way. Ravin’s love story is one such innocent and beautiful love story. the writer believes that love stories seldom die. this is how he begins:-
I remembers the date will: 4th March 2006. I was in Kolkata and about to reach Happy’s home. I had been very excited all morning as I was going to see our gang of four after three years. Ravinder and Khushi had never seen each other. But love had made them one. the writer has graphically delineated their conservation, feeling and emotions. Impatiently waiting for the next call, little surprises bringing them closer, late night conservations, tears and smiles, these entire make read-till-finish book.
Soft & Light hearted humour strewn throughout adds an entertainment quotient to the story. the writer tickles a funny bone as he talks about his paranoia when revealing his love affair to his parents. Tears roll down when an accident leave Khushi battering with death and Ravinder shattered. the writer has summed up the essence of his story in the most appealing terms. not everyone in this world has the fate to cherish the fullest form of love. some are born, just to experience the abbreviation of it.
It has a tragic end, which explains the past tense of the title. the book neither has a meticulously crafted plot nor it is a literacy piece. even then, the simplicity of the book and the honesty with which the author has written it makes us empathize with the author and it did struck a chord in our heart.
