I have three very important men in my life at this time. they are my husband, Steve, my son, Chris and my son Thom. they are all fathers. they are all good fathers. they care for their children’s physical needs, but more than that, they take care of their children’s emotional needs. they play games with the kids and they read to them.
When Chris and Thom were little, we needed additional income. I insisted that I go back to work rather than Steve take a second job. it turned out to be a very good decision. Steve worked days and I worked a few hours at night. The time he spent with the boys created a strong bond that may not have happened if I had been around.
Steve’s child care duties were to feed the boys dinner and to put them to bed. I don’t remember too many stories about dinner, but tales of the bedtime stores are still told to this day.
The boys always had a lot of toys because they had two doting grandparents that kept them well supplied. The three guys had vivid imaginations and always played before bedtime. then it was time for a bedtime story. Steve is an excellent story teller.
All of the memories came flooding back when our grandson Harold was at the house recently and Steve was reading him a story. Steve uses voice inflection, facial exaggeration, and a tickle here and there to accentuate the story.
I am blessed to have a great husband who is also an excellent father. I am twice blessed to have two sons who worship their children.
I am so happy when I see Dad’s posting pictures of their children and sharing their pride. @HouseOfBrew, @RizzoTees, @cc_chapman, @rj_c, @jeffpulver, @RobHatch are established business men who also take joy in being a Dad.
